Informality Observatory
Welcome to the IWLab's Informal Urbanism and Construction Observatory "IUCO". This is an area in which we bring together research and design from, and for, informal zones in Damascus.
The Observatory is our tool to visualize, analyze, and document details and stories from The marginalized half of built environment in the city.
The observatory is a call to investigate inclusive models that challenge and revoke the established understanding of the production of the built environment as a process primarily led by Architects, engineers, and planners, acknowledging instead other mechanisms that encompass a much larger body of hierarchies, actors, and modes than those illustrated by the formal and conventional.
